reading ~ growing ~ learning

I adored the book; Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. For me it was effortless to step into a distant far off place whenever I picked it up and started reading. I caught myself smiling at parts, laughing at others and even getting a bit choked up. After the first few pages I felt so close to Elizabeth, as if I was experiencing these journeys along with her. I enjoyed her insight and views on so many topics and felt myself saying, “I too have felt that way” or “that’s it… that’s what I meant…She just explained it better than I could have…”

What a journey to have taken both spiritually and physically. She had such a way of expression that for me, I kept wanting her to explain more. It struck me about a third of the way through that I must have more knowledge on the material she spoke of; it is a necessity now. I highly recommend this memoir. It was a stirring and beautiful journey. At where I am now in my life, Liz’s book honestly made this reader’s desire to explore deeper into an odyssey of oneself extremely arousing and completely vital.

This is taken from the book......

"People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.

A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.

A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master..."
